Congressman Blake Moore, who represents Utah’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared updates on legislative efforts and federal government operations through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On September 30, 2025, Moore announced a new legislative initiative focused on bioenergy technology. In his post, he stated, “I’m thrilled to introduce the first-ever bill exclusively promoting Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) with @RepJimCosta. BECCS is a novel technology uniquely positioned to promote wildfire mitigation, bolster economic development in rural America, and deliver” (September 30, 2025).

Shortly after, Moore provided further details about the legislation: “The BECCS Advancement Commission Act of 2025 establishes a commission of industry and policymakers at the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, and the Interior to provide recommendations, guidance, and expertise on the deployment of related projects. Learn more here:” (September 30, 2025).

The following day, Moore addressed the ongoing federal government shutdown. He wrote: “The government is officially in a shutdown, meaning hundreds of thousands of federal employees will go without pay, nutritional assistance will run out, the critical federal operations on which Americans rely will close, and so much more. Over the years, shutdowns have happened” (October 1, 2025).

Blake Moore has served as a member of Congress since replacing Rob Bishop in 2021. Born in Ogden in 1980 and currently residing in Salt Lake City at age 42, Moore graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in 2005.
