Congressman Blake Moore, who represents Utah’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed the ongoing government shutdown and its effects on Utah residents in a series of posts on October 6 and 7, 2025.
On October 6, Moore wrote, “The government is still in a shutdown, impacting Utahns across the state. I joined Greg Skordas on @kslnewsradio to talk about how we got into the shutdown and how we get out of it. The GOP-led House has passed a funding bill, and if just 5 more Democrat senators vote to open the”. He also shared a related link in a follow-up post on the same day: “https://t.co/U0STD8W55n”.
Continuing his commentary on October 7, Moore highlighted the economic impact of the shutdown: “The longer we remain in a government shutdown, the more Utahns suffer the consequences. According to a CEA analysis, under a government shutdown:
Utah’s Gross State Product will decline by approximately $157 million each week the shutdown extends.
Unemployment may increase”.
Blake Moore has served in Congress since 2021, succeeding Rob Bishop. He was born in Ogden, Utah in 1980 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Moore graduated from the University of Utah in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
