The Weber State Wildcats women’s tennis team lost to the Eastern Washington Eagles, 5-2, at home on April 12.
The match was played at the Ogden Athletic Club in Ogden, Utah. The Wildcats were unable to secure a win in doubles play, losing all three matches. The scores were 6-4 on Courts #1 and #3 and a close 7-5 loss on Court #2.
In singles competition, Naomi Johnson won her match in straight sets on Court #6 with a score of 6-4, 6-2. This tied the overall match at one point each for both teams. Jessica Hill earned another point for Weber State with a three-set victory against Leandra Nizetic. Hill’s final score was 6-2, 6-7 (8-10), and 10-8.
Other singles matches saw wins by Eastern Washington players Anait Arutiunian, Zoe Pradel, Veronika Gayevyk, and Olivia Marais over their respective opponents from Weber State.
Weber State will travel next to Montana to face the Grizzlies and Bobcats. Their upcoming match is scheduled against Montana on Sunday, April 18th at PEAK Racquet Club in Missoula. Both teams enter that contest with two wins this season.
