Mike Lee, U.S. senator for Utah and a proponent of constitutional principles and individual liberty, posted several statements on his Twitter account on April 30, 2026, addressing federal policy issues and government oversight.

In one post from the afternoon, Lee called for an end to government support for corn production, writing: “End mandates and handouts for Big Corn. It is ridiculous to tailor American fuel standards around the need to get rid of surplus grain.” (April 30, 2026).

Later that day, Lee commented on surveillance reform efforts in Congress, stating: “Opportunities for bipartisan agreement are rare these days, and I’m glad to fight alongside @SenatorDurbin on this one: the government should not be able to spy on Americans without a warrant. We cannot allow a long-term extension of FISA without serious reforms.” (April 30, 2026).

In another tweet that evening, Lee criticized actions by the Biden administration regarding religious organizations: “The Biden administration should have learned from the Obama administration: targeting nuns is usually a sign that you’re on the wrong side of history.” (April 30, 2026).

Lee’s public positions reflect his broader advocacy for limited government and free markets as noted on his official website. He has served as Utah’s U.S. senator while emphasizing constitutional values throughout his career. Raised in Provo as a fourth-generation Utahn and son of legal scholar Rex E. Lee, he holds degrees in political science and law from Brigham Young University.
