Mike Lee, United States Senator for Utah, used his social media platform to raise concerns about national security and government spending in a series of posts on January 13 and 14, 2026.

On January 13, Lee wrote, “Thousands of CCP loyalists have access to American labs in the AI race against China. We’re practically begging them to spy on us. With @SenTomCotton & our GOP colleagues, I’m urging @ENERGY to protect our AI research & ban Chinese nationals from American labs.” The post was accompanied by another tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/HGzZc3lkrK”, also dated January 13.

The following day, Lee commented on federal funding priorities under the Trump administration. On January 14 he stated, “After a year of victories under President Trump, including defunding scores of leftwing, anti-American NGOs, we must not turn around and dump taxpayer dollars into the National Endowment for Democracy.”

Lee’s statements reflect his broader policy positions as outlined on his official website. He advocates for limited government and fiscal responsibility while supporting energy independence and military strength. His legislative work includes efforts on public safety, health care, economic issues, balanced budget amendments and term limits (source). As U.S. Senator for Utah with offices in Salt Lake City, St. George, Vernal and Washington D.C., Lee represents the entire state and provides constituent services related to federal matters (source).
