U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah posted a series of tweets on April 1 and 2, 2026, addressing topics including birthright citizenship, foreign election interference, and efforts to combat fraud.

On April 1, Lee commented on the topic of citizenship, writing: “Birthright citizenship became a problem because Democrats think everyone in the world who *wasn’t* born here is automatically an American, too.”

The following day, Lee addressed concerns about election integrity. On April 2 he stated: “It has been obvious for years that the same crew who invented the Russiagate hoax are themselves dependent on foreign election interference.”

Later that same day, Lee praised efforts led by Senator J.D. Vance and referenced former President Trump: “Amazing work by @JDVance and his task force. Ending the industrial-scale fraud perpetrated against the American people will be another historic achievement under President Trump.”

Lee serves as the U.S. senator for Utah and is known for promoting constitutional principles, limited government, individual liberty, and free markets according to his official website. He grew up in Provo as a fourth-generation Utahn and is the son of Rex E. Lee, a legal scholar and public servant. Lee holds both a bachelor’s degree in political science and a Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University. He has clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., further contributing to his background in law and public service.
