U.S. Senator Mike Lee, representing Utah, used his social media platform to express views on election laws and voter identification in a series of posts dated March 22 and 23, 2026.
On March 22, Lee commented on the SAVE America Act by stating, “We don’t need the SAVE America Act because illegal voting is against the law.” That’s like saying we don’t need cops because crimes are already illegal.
The following day, Lee addressed voter identification requirements: Voter ID makes it easy to vote, and hard to cheat. Many states already use it with great success! He continued later that day with a statement about congressional authority over elections: Good. Congress sets the “Time, Places and Manner” of elections under Article 1, Section 4 of the Constitution. States cannot turn Election Day into Election Week, and the American people deserve better than last-minute mail-in ballot “discoveries” that undermine public trust.
Senator Lee has consistently advocated for constitutional principles and individual liberty as part of his legislative agenda (official website). A fourth-generation Utahn who grew up in Provo, he is also recognized for his background in law and public service (official website). Lee holds degrees in political science and law from Brigham Young University and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., according to his official biography (official website).
