Rashid Shaheed, a former Weber State football standout, shared his experiences and career highlights in the latest episode of the ‘Cat Tales’ podcast with Paul Grua, according to a March 26 announcement.
Shaheed’s story is notable for his rise from signing with Weber State in February 2016 to becoming a Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks in 2026. He remains the only four-time All-American in Weber State history and is considered one of the top players to have played for the Wildcats.
During his time at Weber State from 2017 to 2021, Shaheed played in 53 games and helped lead the team to four consecutive Big Sky titles and multiple FCS Playoff appearances. He set records as an all-purpose player, including becoming the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) all-time leader in kickoff return touchdowns with seven. His collegiate career also included earning first-team All-Big Sky honors four times and amassing over 5,400 all-purpose yards.
Since entering the National Football League after leaving college in 2021, Shaheed has appeared in 51 regular season games over four seasons, starting in 32 of them. He has earned two Pro Bowl selections and was named an All-Pro. His professional achievements include three punt return touchdowns, one kickoff return touchdown during regular season play, as well as another kickoff return touchdown during Seattle’s playoff victory over San Francisco. In total, he has recorded more than 2,200 receiving yards and scored twelve receiving touchdowns.
In his appearance on ‘Cat Tales,’ Shaheed reflected on his development as a player at both college and professional levels. He discussed moments such as transitioning between teams—including experiences playing for New Orleans before joining Seattle—signing new contracts mid-season, memorable plays that marked his arrival in the NFL, returning kicks successfully throughout his career, mentoring younger athletes coming up behind him at Weber State, and what it meant personally to win a Super Bowl championship.
