Rep. Ryan D. Wilcox, a member of the Utah House of Representatives, recently used his social media platform to comment on changes in K-12 physical education and the evolving landscape of college athletics.
On January 7, 2026, Wilcox reflected on shifts in school programs by stating, “We did! #ChildOfThe80s K-12 Physical Education is NOTHING like it was back in the day. And that’s not necessarily a good thing.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about collegiate sports governance: “As frustrating as this is, it represents a natural backlash from the decades of control and abuse college athletes and students have been subjected to by an increasingly irresponsible and bureaucratic NCAA, governed by completely unaccountable and hostile Academics more” (January 7, 2026).
In a subsequent post on January 7, 2026, Wilcox added a brief affirmation with “”.
Wilcox has represented Utah’s District 7 in the state legislature. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has faced scrutiny over its management practices for student-athletes in recent years. Changes to K-12 physical education programs have also sparked debate nationwide about curriculum standards and student health.
