Rep. Ryan D. Wilcox, a member of the Utah House of Representatives, posted several tweets in early December 2025 expressing support for former Major League Baseball player Dale Murphy and referencing comments made by Hall of Famer Joe Torre.
On December 6, 2025, Wilcox wrote: “Unreal comment about the very real @DaleMurphy3 from Hall of Famer Joe Torre. Can confirm. the real Dale Murphy absolutely is that guy! @MurphyToTheHall Let’s go @baseballhall! https://t.co/fP53p625FH https://t.co/Yvc4rBq1rO”
Later that day, he posted another tweet containing only an emoji and a link: ” https://t.co/AtmaU5X7Di”.
On December 8, 2025, Wilcox tweeted: “Pure. Class. https://t.co/L5r2kBM5yh”
Wilcox’s posts come amid ongoing discussions regarding Dale Murphy’s candidacy for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Murphy, a two-time National League MVP and seven-time All-Star primarily with the Atlanta Braves, has been considered by many as deserving of enshrinement but has not yet been elected through traditional voting processes.
Joe Torre, referenced in Wilcox’s tweet, is a Hall of Fame manager and former player who has publicly praised Murphy’s character and career achievements in past interviews.
