U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has introduced a Senate resolution condemning the assassination of conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, who was killed on September 10, 2025, during an event at Utah Valley University. The House companion resolution was introduced by Rep. Mike Kennedy (R-UT).
The resolution denounces Kirk’s killing and acknowledges his role as a founder of Turning Point USA in 2012, describing it as a conservative campus advocacy group that grew rapidly across college campuses nationwide. It also notes Kirk’s efforts to engage students from various political backgrounds in open debate and civil discourse.
According to the resolution, the Senate “condemns the assassination of Charlie Kirk in the strongest possible terms,” extends condolences to his family—including his wife Erika and their two children—and honors his dedication to civil discussion and constitutional principles.
Senator Lee issued a statement following Kirk’s death: “Charlie Kirk was an American patriot, an inspiration to countless young people to stand up and defend the timeless truths that make our country great.
“This murder was a cowardly act of violence, an attack on champions of freedom like Charlie, the students who gathered for civil debate, and all Americans who peacefully strive to save our nation.
“The terrorists will not win.
“Charlie will.
“Please join me in praying for his wife Erika and their children. May justice be swift.”
