U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) released a statement following the murder of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point, which occurred earlier today at Utah Valley University.

“Charlie Kirk was an American patriot, an inspiration to countless young people to stand up and defend the timeless truths that make our country great.
“This murder was a cowardly act of violence, an attack on champions of freedom like Charlie, the students who gathered for civil debate, and all Americans who peacefully strive to save our nation.
“The terrorists will not win.
“Charlie will.
“Please join me in praying for his wife Erika and their children. May justice be swift,” Lee said.

According to reports, Kirk was shot while delivering a speech at Utah Valley University around 12:30 p.m. MDT. The event drew a large crowd as it marked the first stop of Kirk’s American Comeback Tour. Authorities confirmed that no students or other attendees were injured during the incident.
