Cost of college went up for all students at Weber State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.6 percent for 2018-19 at Weber State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Utah residents paid $5,859 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $147 more than the $5,712 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 167 percent more than residents this year, or $15,646. Their price tag grew 2.5 percent from $15,260 in 2017-18.

About 90 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Utah residents. About 9 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 89 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,817 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.2 million and 575 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (28,247), 9,644 students used grants or scholarships totaling $46.6 million, and 5,078 students took out $35.5 million in federal student loans.
