Congressman Blake Moore, representing Utah's 1st district, recently shared a series of tweets regarding legislative efforts to support U.S. servicemembers stationed in high-risk areas. The tweets highlight his involvement in bipartisan legislation and his commitment to military personnel.

On March 20, 2025, Congressman Moore announced his participation with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to introduce legislation aimed at extending the Qualified Hazardous Duty Area (QHDA) designation to Mali, Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Chad. This measure is intended to ensure that U.S. servicemembers in these regions receive critical tax exclusion benefits. "I joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers in introducing legislation to extend the Qualified Hazardous Duty Area (QHDA) designation to Mali, Burkina Faso, Kenya, & Chad, ensuring that U.S. servicemembers stationed in these high-risk areas receive critical tax exclusion benefits."

In another tweet on the same day, Moore emphasized the urgency of this initiative due to increasing terrorist activity and the presence of Russian mercenaries in the Sahel region. "At a time when terrorist activity in the Sahel is ramping up & Russian mercenaries are stalking the region to exert their influence, now is the time to provide this low-cost tax exclusion to uniformed Americans putting their lives on the line."

Additionally, Congressman Moore highlighted his role on the Ways and Means Committee and reiterated his dedication to advocating for military interests through practical tax policies. He pointed out that given the acute threats posed by the Sahel region to U.S. security, it is crucial that servicemembers there receive comprehensive support. "It has been my priority on @WaysandMeansGOP to represent the interests of our military servicemembers through commonsense tax policies like this. The Sahel region poses acute threats to the US homeland, & our servicemembers stationed there should be given every possible leg up…"
