The Weber State women’s golf team announced on Apr. 19 that three of its players—Jade Gruher, Cala Korman, and Sofia Fuenmayor—have earned All-Big Sky Conference honors as the league revealed its all-conference teams and individual award winners.
These recognitions highlight the achievements of the athletes during the season. Gruher was named to the Second Team after achieving a national ranking of 581 and leading her team with a stroke average of 72.90. She recorded six top-20 finishes, including four in the top-10, with her best performances being a runner-up finish at the Utah Fall Intercollegiate and third place at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational.
Korman and Fuenmayor were each awarded Honorable Mention honors. Korman holds a national ranking of 770 with a stroke average of 74.09. She had six top-20 finishes this season, including two fifth-place results, and led her team at the Mountain Classic Match Play by winning all three matches for three points. Fuenmayor posted a stroke average of 74.26, is ranked 785th nationally, and achieved five top-20 finishes—including a career-best third place at the Red Rocks Invitational where she shot two rounds of three-under-par (69) for an overall score of four-under-par (212).
In addition to Weber State’s honorees, Northern Arizona’s Lizzie Neale was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Year after finishing with an NCAA ranking of No. 179 and averaging a score of 71.6 per round in regular season play—a result that ended Sacramento State’s six-year streak holding this title.
Sophia Lee from Sacramento State was recognized as Freshman of the Year following her performance during her first collegiate campaign.
The announcement comes just before competition begins at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona for the Big Sky Conference Women’s Golf Championships.
