The Weber State men’s track and field team hosted its only home meet of the season over the weekend, splitting competition between the WSU Spring Classic and U of U Spring Classic. The highlight of the event was a record-breaking performance by the men’s 4×100 meter relay team.

The significance of this achievement is marked by both a new school record and a stadium record at Chick Hislop Track. The relay squad, consisting of Nakosi Swain, Jae Macias, Jeremiah Wallace, and Tyler Warnick—all freshmen—finished with a time of 40.22 seconds.

Head Coach Corbin Talley said, “It was awesome to have so many alumni at the meet to support us. We have an amazing group of former track and field athletes at Weber State.” Talley also commented on the team’s standout accomplishment: “The performance of the meet for us had to be the 4x100m relay breaking the 16-year old school record. I found out later that it was also a stadium record. We hope we can build something special there since it was a group of four freshmen.”

In addition to the relay success, several individual athletes posted top-10 all-time marks for Weber State. Jae Macias set a freshman record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.51 seconds, ranking him fourth all-time for Weber State in that event. Jeremiah Wallace placed fifth all-time in the same race with his finish at 10.52 seconds; Tyler Warnick achieved ninth place in program history for his time in the 400 meters (47.02); Seth Hall reached tenth place in long jump (24′-3″), while Joseph Miraya earned tenth best mark in discus (165′-0.25″).

During this final home meet, seniors were recognized for their dedication to Wildcats athletics throughout their careers.

Talley said he appreciated not just athletic performances but also teamwork behind-the-scenes: “I was really pleased with the efforts of all our athletes, both in competition and in helping with meet management.” Looking ahead, members from Weber State will compete next at two events: part of the squad will travel to Azusa, California for Bryan Clay Invitational April 16-18; others will participate at Oregon Team Challenge April 17-18.
