The Weber State Men’s Golf team advanced to third place in the Big Sky Conference Championship after a strong second round on Apr. 28, shooting a combined 15-under par 273 at Wigwam Resort’s Gold Course for a two-round total of 4-under par 572.
This performance marks a significant improvement for the Wildcats, who improved their score by 26 strokes from the first day. All five scoring players contributed under-par rounds, with Matthew Wilson and Bobby Kincaid each carding a 5-under par 67. Wilson recorded five birdies in a bogey-free round and moved into third place individually at four under par (140). Kincaid finished his round with two birdies and an eagle on the back nine, ending at three under par (141) and jumping into fourth place overall.
Markus Nanpei added a four-under-par 68, highlighted by five birdies against one bogey, moving him into a tie for twelfth place at one over par (143). Ty Anderson and substitute Ryan Takeshita both posted rounds of one under par (71), ensuring all five Wildcats finished in red figures for the day. Anderson is now tied for nineteenth overall at three over par (147), while Takeshita’s score included four birdies.
Sacramento State maintained its lead after shooting an impressive team score of eighteen under par (270) on Tuesday. The Hornets are now sixteen under through thirty-six holes, holding an eleven-shot advantage over Idaho in second place heading into Wednesday’s final round. Francis Merion trails Weber State by three shots in fourth position.
Individually, Sacramento State’s Jai Bahl leads with an eleven-under-par sixty-one on Tuesday for ten under overall (134), followed by teammate Gabriel Smith. Wilson remains six shots behind Bahl as Weber State looks ahead to the tournament’s conclusion.
