The Weber State men’s golf team finished in a tie for 21st place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, according to an April 1 announcement. The event took place at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona, and concluded on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats completed the tournament with a three-round total score of 886. They posted rounds of 296 and 299 before improving in the final round with a score of 291, which allowed them to move up four spots on the leaderboard among the field of 25 teams.
Bobby Kincaid led Weber State individually, finishing tied for 77th place with a total score of six-over-par (222). Kincaid recorded back-to-back rounds of 76 before closing out his performance with three birdies and an eagle during a two-under-par final round of 70. Jesus Castaneda tied for 84th after posting scores of 76, 72, and 76 for an eight-over-par total (224), while Ty Anderson shot rounds of 73, 74, and 78 to finish nine-over-par (225) and tied for 92nd.
Matthew Wilson contributed scores of 71, then struggled with an opening round-81 before finishing strong with a third-round-73 to end ten-over-par (226) and tied for the ninety-ninth spot. Markus Nanpei closed out scoring for Weber State by tying for one hundred second after shooting eleven-over-par (227), highlighted by six birdies during his one-under-par final round-71.
Southern California claimed the team title at the event as they posted a twenty-six-under-par cumulative score (838), edging Arkansas State by one stroke. Thomas Schmidt from Arkansas State earned individual medalist honors.
