The Weber State men’s track and field team is set to compete at the Big Sky Indoor Championships, which will be held from February 26 to 28 at the ICCU Dome in Pocatello, Idaho.
Head Coach Corbin Talley commented on the team’s preparation for the event. “We’re excited for the Big Sky Championships,” Talley said. “The fellas have worked really hard and are ready for some of their best performances of the season.”
The championships will begin with four heptathlon events on the first day, starting at 10:15 am and concluding at 2:30 pm. The second day will feature the remaining three heptathlon events from 10 am to 1:15 pm. Field events are scheduled to start at 10 am and end at 5:30 pm, while track events will run from 10 am until the finals of the 5,000m and Distance Medley Relay finish at 7:40 pm.
On the final day, field event finals will take place from 10 am to 1 pm. Track finals begin with the mile at 11 am, and the meet will conclude with the 4x400m relay at 2:30 pm.
Talley spoke about the competition ahead. “It should be a great team battle. There are a lot of very strong programs in our conference,” he said. “We should also see a lot of exciting individual matchups as well. Hoping to get as many guys as we can on the podium and in the top eight.”
The entire championship meet will be available for viewing on ESPN+, with live results provided by Athletic Live.
Reflecting on this year’s venue, Talley noted its significance. “I believe this will be the final track and field meet on the wooden track in Pocatello. It’s definitely a historic track, and we’re honored to be part of the final conference championships on the boards,” he said. “The facility holds a lot of fond memories for me dating back to competing in high school and college, and the last decade of coaching here at Weber.”
Following these championships, athletes who qualify will advance to compete in Fayetteville, Arkansas during the NCAA championships scheduled for March 12-14.
