The Weber State men’s track and field team finished in fourth place at the Big Sky Indoor Championships held in Pocatello, Idaho. The Wildcats earned a total of 69.5 points during the event.

Head Coach Corbin Talley commented on his team’s performance, stating, “I really loved the opportunity to watch my guys compete the past few days. I was proud of our toughness they showed. The Big Sky Championships are as competitive as ever in nearly every area, and I saw quite a few places where our guys stepped up to the challenge.”

Peter Visser and Tyler Warnick were among the top performers for Weber State. Visser secured first place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:01.76 and also took second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:15.08. William Horne finished seventh in the 3,000 meters at 8:24.56, while Jacob Peterson and Tyler Spencer placed seventh and eighth respectively in the 5,000 meters.

The Distance Medley Relay team—composed of TJ Warnick, Colby Anderson, Logan Marek, and Owen Rogers—claimed second place in their event with a time of 9:53.80.

Freshman Jae Macias set both school and freshman records in the 60-meter dash by clocking a time of 6.73 seconds; he also placed fourth overall in that event’s finals at this meet.

Other notable performances included Joe Corbridge finishing sixth in the 800 meters (1:54.50), Wyatt Larkins placing sixth in weight throw (63′-0″), Owen Rogers taking seventh place in mile (4:13.61), Kale Thomas achieving seventh place high jump (6′-8.25″), Parker Sagers earning eighth position pole vault (14′-11″), and Joseph Miraya placing eighth shot put (53′-3.50″).

Weber State had seventeen finishes within the top eight across various events contributing to their point total; notably, freshmen accounted for twenty-eight out of those sixty-nine-and-a-half points.

Coach Talley acknowledged these contributions by saying, “I’m really proud of some of the gritty performances that picked up some small points that made a big difference. What played a big part in helping us secure fourth place.”

The Wildcats will begin their outdoor season on March 26th at Orem’s UVU Invitational.
