Weber State University lost to Sacramento State 5-2 in eight innings on April 4, closing out their weekend softball series. The Wildcats dropped the final game of the series and now hold a record of 11-30 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
The game began with Sacramento State taking an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning on an RBI single and an RBI double. Weber State responded in the third inning when Jordan Hart hit an RBI single, narrowing the deficit.
In a pivotal moment during the bottom of the seventh inning, Emma Bingham delivered a pinch-hit home run for Weber State, tying the score at 2-2 and sending the game into extra innings. However, Sacramento State’s Malepeai hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to secure victory for the Hornets.
Kendall Freidinger pitched all eight innings for Weber State and recorded four strikeouts but was credited with the loss. Offensively, Jordan McMahon led with two hits while Hart and Bingham each contributed one run batted in.
