Weber State softball lost both games against Idaho State in the opening of Big Sky Conference play on March 28. The doubleheader took place at Miller Ranch Stadium in Pocatello, Idaho.
The results mark a challenging start for Weber State as it begins its conference schedule. These losses bring the Wildcats’ overall record to 9-27 and their conference record to 0-2.
In the first game, Weber State kept the contest close early, creating chances on offense but leaving runners stranded. Cali McCraw started as pitcher for Weber State and was charged with the loss.
The second game saw Idaho State take control from the beginning, scoring eight runs over three innings. Although Weber State managed to score four runs—helped by a bases-loaded walk from Maldonado, an RBI single by Sienna Solis, and two more runs brought in by Tori Rey—the Bengals added four additional runs to end the game after five innings with a score of 12-4. Raina Navarro started as pitcher for Weber State and took the loss.
