Weber State Wildcats defeated Utah State Aggies, 11-7, in a comeback victory on April 28 in Logan, Utah. The Wildcats overcame an early six-run deficit by scoring consistently in the final four innings and collecting a total of 19 hits.
The game began with Utah State taking the lead after Erickson hit a solo home run in the second inning. The Aggies extended their advantage to 6-0 by the third inning. Weber State’s response started when Taegan Smith hit a solo home run to center field in the fourth inning, sparking a rally that saw them add another run in the fifth to narrow the gap to 6-4.
Raina Navarro relieved Joslynn Veltien as pitcher for Weber State and threw two scoreless innings during the fourth and fifth frames, helping halt Utah State’s momentum. In the sixth and seventh innings, Weber State scored three runs to take their first lead at 7-6. The Wildcats secured their win with a four-run surge in the seventh inning, highlighted by Apollonia Maldonado’s three-run home run.
Cali McCraw earned credit for the win after pitching three scoreless innings of relief at the end of the game.
