Weber State Wildcats women’s softball team will play a three-game series against Oregon State, starting with a doubleheader on March 13 and concluding with a game on March 14. The games are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time on March 13, and at 1:00 p.m. on March 14, with all matchups available for streaming on ESPN+.

The upcoming series is significant as Weber State looks to build momentum after finishing last weekend’s Blue Collar Classic in Boise, Idaho, with two wins out of five games. The Wildcats secured victories over Cal Baptist and St. Thomas during the tournament. Jordan McMahon currently leads the team with a .449 batting average, tallying 40 hits and four triples this season. Apollonia Maldonado has contributed a team-high 24 runs batted in (RBI), along with five doubles and four home runs.

Historically, Oregon State holds an advantage over Weber State in their head-to-head meetings, leading the series 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Corvallis. In their most recent matchup, Oregon State defeated Weber State by a score of 3-1. The Beavers enter the weekend series with a record of 10-17 for the season and are set to play Penn State before facing the Wildcats.

Last season, Weber State captured its fifth Big Sky Championship—its first since 2022—and made its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. During regional play in Eugene, Oregon, the Wildcats earned their second-ever NCAA Regional win by defeating Binghamton 7-4. Key contributors from last year included Riley Whalen, who led the team with a .356 batting average and received All-Big Sky First Team honors; Abby Grundy, who topped both her team and conference with 18 doubles; and freshman Sadie Kirk, who was named Co-Freshman of the Year while maintaining a .352 batting average.

This year’s roster features five new freshmen: pitchers Kendall Freidinger from Tucson, Arizona, and Jade Curiel from Chino, California; first baseman McKenzie Quintero from Herriman, Utah; outfielder Attiana Thompson from Menifee, California; and utility player Paige Witte from Vacaville, California.

The Wildcats aim to continue building on last season’s success as they prepare for this challenging non-conference matchup.
