Weber State University will host its Day of Giving from noon on April 9 to noon on April 10, according to a March 31 announcement. The event aims to raise funds for student needs, projects, athletic teams, and scholarship funds.

The Day of Giving provides an opportunity for the community to contribute directly to initiatives that benefit students. Last year’s inaugural event raised $94,252 from 444 donors supporting 66 different fundraising efforts.

Amber Robson, Weber State University’s associate director of alumni relations, said, “We were thrilled with the outpouring of support last year.” She added, “Donations can really make a difference in helping these projects succeed. It’s a chance for friends, family, and community to support things that are important to students they know. And a little bit goes a long way in helping reach these goals.”

A main focus this year is the university’s Basic Needs Center. The center assists students facing food insecurity, childcare challenges, financial literacy issues, and other emergencies. Other featured projects include expanding Stewart Library’s textbook lending service; offering no-cost engineering camps for high schoolers; sponsoring study-abroad opportunities; updating lab equipment; providing grants for student research; and subsidizing outdoor adventure trips.

Earlier this year in January, Weber State announced Amplify Weber State—a campaign aiming to raise $200 million for large-scale university initiatives—while Day of Giving spotlights specific areas of interest.
