The Weber State Wildcats women’s tennis team lost to the Sacramento State Hornets on March 28 in Sacramento, with a final score of 7-0.
The loss adds another setback for the Wildcats as they continue their season. The match started with doubles play, where Weber State was swept on Courts #2 and #3 by identical 6-0 scores. This gave Sacramento State an early lead heading into singles matches.
In singles competition, the Hornets maintained their momentum, winning five out of six matches in straight sets. Naomi Johnson of Weber State extended her match to three sets on Court #6 but ultimately fell 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Other results included Reese Walker defeating Jessica Hill and Lou Baudouin overcoming Paulina Aleksandrowicz.
Full match results show that the Wildcats were unable to secure a win in either singles or doubles play. In doubles, Irene Riva and Palina Saulevich beat Jessica Hill and Aleks Bozinovska (6-2), while other pairs from Sacramento also recorded victories.
Looking ahead, Weber State will return home to face Portland State on Friday, April 10 at the Ogden Athletic Club. The Vikings currently hold a .500 record at 5-5 this season.
The outcome marks another challenge for the Wildcats as they seek improvement before their next home game.
