The Weber State women’s track and field team competed at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California, and the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California, according to an April 4 announcement.
The meets marked a strong showing for the Wildcats as several athletes achieved personal bests or came close to their top performances. These results are important for the team’s ongoing development this season.
Head Coach Lindsey Anderson said, “We had a strong weekend for our group. We love seeing the continued progress with athletes breaking into our all-time top 10 list.”
Charlotte Wilkinson secured fifth place on Weber State’s all-time list in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.71. Hannah Bailey moved into tenth place on the school’s all-time list in the 1500 meters by finishing in 4:25.95.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, four Wildcats participated: Saga Hagelin led with a time of 10:09.75; Audrey Camp Cazier finished in 10:22.09; Danielle Brow ran a time of 10:32.53; and Melanie Anderson completed her race in 10:50.59.
“Everyone who competed either set a personal best or was less than two seconds away from their personal bests. It was a great start,” Anderson said. “We had a couple of throwers also competing this weekend and they had a great meet as well, showing good consistency in their events.”
Looking ahead, Weber State will host its next meet at home during the WSU Spring Classic on April 10 where Wildcat seniors will be recognized at an event scheduled for 7 p.m., followed by participation in conjunction with the U of U Spring Classic on April 11.
