Weber State reported on May 2 that its men’s track and field team achieved several notable performances at the BYU Robison Invitational in Provo, marking the end of the regular season before the Big Sky Championships.
The event was significant for Weber State as athletes set three freshman records, secured places on the program’s all-time top 10 list, and posted several seasonal bests. These results come as the team prepares for postseason competition.
Freshman Jae Macias broke two freshman sprint records, running 10.45 seconds in the 100 meters—the third fastest time in school history—and setting a new mark in the 200 meters with a time of 21.22 seconds, which ranks seventh all-time at Weber State. In distance events, Colby Jenks established a freshman record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:47.69, making it both second-fastest ever for Weber State and qualifying him for the NCAA West Region meet. Joe Corbridge also recorded a career-best of 1:48.73 in the same event, earning an NCAA First Round qualifying time.
Additional highlights included Peter Visser and Owen Rogers posting seasonal bests in the mile run that will convert to strong times for the 1500 meters. Freshman Alex Maxfield won his race in the 10,000 meters with a personal best of 31:39.87.
Relay teams also performed well; Weber State won first place in the men’s 4×400 meter relay and took second place in the men’s 4×100 meter relay. In field events, Tyler Warnick finished second overall in decathlon with a total score of 7,102 points—fifth-best all-time at Weber State—and qualified for both NCAA West Regionals and U.S. U20 competitions.
Looking ahead, Weber State will compete next at the Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships scheduled from May 13 to May 16.
