Weber State Wildcats softball secured a 3-2 victory over the Loyola Marymount Lions on March 22 at Wildcat Field, clinching the series two games to one.
The outcome is significant as it demonstrates the Wildcats’ ability to respond under pressure and maintain their lead in a close contest. The win also highlights key performances from both hitters and pitchers on the team.
Loyola Marymount took an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning. Weber State responded in the second when Sienna Solis drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. In the third inning, Sadie Kirk delivered an RBI single to give the Wildcats the lead, and another run was added in the fourth after Sammy Gallegos reached base and scored on an error. The Lions narrowed the gap to one run in the fifth, but Weber State’s pitching staff held firm for the remainder of the game.
Jordan Hart led Weber State offensively, going two-for-three at bat. Kirk contributed with a hit and an RBI, while Solis also drove in a run. On the mound, Kendall Freidinger earned the win by pitching six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. Cali McCraw closed out the final inning to pick up the save.
Looking ahead, Weber State will face Utah on March 24 in Salt Lake City, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. Home and Big Sky Conference games will be streamed on ESPN+.
