The Weber State Wildcats women’s tennis team earned their first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds in Fresno, California. The match took place at the Haak Tennis Complex on March 5, 2026.
Fresno Pacific began strong by winning two out of three doubles matches. The pairings of Halle Faherty and Jessica McLean, as well as Yume Ueoku and Fabiana Gonzalez, secured victories for the Sunbirds on courts one and two. The Wildcats managed to take one doubles match through Nataly Valdivia Rojas and Paulina Aleksandrowicz.
Despite trailing after doubles play, Weber State recovered in singles competition by winning four out of six matches. Victories from Paulina Aleksandrowicz, Aleks Bozinovska, and Nataly Valdivia Rojas all came in straight sets. Naomi Johnson clinched the overall win for Weber State after losing her first set in a tiebreak but coming back to take the next two sets against Malia Mitchell.
Match details show that Yume Ueoku defeated Jessica Hill in three sets while Fabiana Gonzalez beat Maggie Song in straight sets for Fresno Pacific’s singles points.
Weber State now holds a 1-8 record for the season and will continue their weekend matches in Fresno against CSUN on Saturday afternoon at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center, followed by a game against Fresno State on Sunday.
