Matthew Wilson and Ty Anderson of Weber State have been recognized by the Big Sky Conference for their performances in men’s golf, according to an April 26 announcement. The honors were released one day before the start of the conference championship tournament.
This recognition highlights the achievements of both athletes during the season. Wilson was named to the All-Big Sky Conference First Team after leading his team with a 72.5 stroke average and achieving a national ranking of 565. He placed in the top-20 at five out of eight tournaments, with all those finishes being within the top-8. Wilson also won individual medalist honors at the Dolenc Invitational held at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois, and received four Big Sky Golfer of the Week awards over a four-tournament stretch.
Anderson earned All-Big Sky Honorable Mention after posting a 73.7 stroke average and holding a national ranking of 1,129. He finished in the top-20 four times this season, including an eighth-place finish at Weber State’s most recent event, the Shark Invitational at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, New York.
In addition to these recognitions from Weber State, Idaho’s Josh McCartain was named Big Sky Player of the Year while Eastern Washington’s Cal Anderson received Freshman of the Year honors.
The Wildcats are set to begin play in the Big Sky Championship tournament tomorrow morning at Wigwam Golf Club.
