Wyatt Larkins was named the Big Sky Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Apr. 6.

The recognition comes after Larkins, a freshman for Weber State Wildcats Men’s Track & Field, achieved a mark of 218 feet and 11 inches in the Hammer Throw. This performance currently ranks as the best in the Big Sky Conference and is placed nineteenth nationally in the National Collegiate Athletic Association standings.

Larkins now holds two school records at Weber State: one in Hammer Throw and another in Weight Throw set during the indoor season. Earlier this year, he broke a 27-year-old school record for Hammer Throw before surpassing his own mark at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational held in La Jolla, California.

The Wildcats are preparing to host their next event, the WSU Spring Classic, scheduled for April 10. The meet will be followed by participation in the University of Utah Spring Classic on April 11.

Larkins’ achievements contribute to both his individual standing and Weber State’s reputation within collegiate track and field competitions.
