The U.S. House of Representatives has unanimously passed two bills introduced by Congressman Blake Moore, aimed at improving public access to federal waterways and establishing a site for a Medal of Honor monument on the National Mall.

Congressman Moore expressed his enthusiasm about the progress, stating, "What a great way to start the 119th Congress! I am thrilled that my MAPWaters Act and National Medal of Honor Monument Location Act have passed the House." He emphasized that these bills would enhance recreational access to federal waterways and create a dedicated location for honoring Medal of Honor recipients. Moore added, "I’m grateful to start the year with these exciting wins, and I look forward to advancing these bills to the Senate Floor."

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman also supported the initiatives. He described the Modernizing Access to Our Public Waters Act as "a commonsense solution" that updates mapping information for federal waters, thereby aiding outdoor recreation industries. Regarding the monument act, Westerman remarked, "Giving Medal of Honor recipients a permanent memorial on the National Mall is one of the best ways we, as Congress, can celebrate the men and women who demonstrated incredible bravery in service to our country." He praised Congressman Moore's efforts and looked forward to further legislative progress.

Further details about both pieces of legislation are available online.
